Customs Exec Accused of Illegally Acquiring Real Estate Properties

The Ombudsman is accusing Board of Customs’ Chief of Operations Manuel Valencia of illegally acquiring real estate properties amounting to P1,225,070 and even dollar time deposits amounting to $3,825,414.18.

According to the Ombudsman, the customs chief violated Republic Act No. 3019 or the Anti-Graft and Corrupt Practices Act. The acquisition of properties of Valencia is questionable as it does not coincide with the annual salary of a public official like him.
