The opposition councilors in Mandaue City wants to reclaim the 100 hectare lands that were titled during the 1980’s. The worth of the real properties is said to be more billions of pesos. According to one opposition councilor, one of the recipients of titled lands was the family of Mayor Jonas Cortes.

According to the old agreement, the foreshore land was supposed to be used the city’s socialized housing program however when they were titled, mostly businessmen acquired these lands. The opposition councilors believe that the city should own these lands.
